Farmers Against Fracking?
The Farming UK web site carried a story today in which George Osborne’s pledge to support shale gas come what may was roundly condemned as short-termist and dangerous
It quoted the Chartered Institution of Water & Environmental Management (CIWEM) ‘s Executive Director Nick Reeves as saying:
“The Chancellor’s dangling carrot for the gas industry is a big move in the wrong direction. Regrettably, the budget promotes fossil fuels rather than renewables and will jeopardise commitments to action on climate change. This is another desperate example of a short-termist approach to growing the economy. We should be investing in a sustainable renewable energy infrastructure and not a fossil fuel future.”
