Local Elections
Please let us have your news of how candidates are addressing (or not addressing) this issue.
Marjorie Janet Sherwood, Labour, standing in Lytham ward has campaign literature which states that the Labour Party want a moratorium until a full independent enquiry has looked into safety issues and that she is concerned about fracking’s impact on health, farming, tourism, water shortages and the environment.
There is still time for the Conservative (and other) candidates to show us that they realise that this is a live issue though.
For those of you who already realise the importance of this issue the North West anti-fracking groups and Friends of the Earth, are organising a demonstration in Preston on 20 April, ahead of the Lancashire County Council elections on 2 May.
Please try and attend and spread the word. LCC has taken an increasingly cautious stance against shale gas plans for Lancashire and it’s important that we show them that we – the residents – do not want this industry in Lancashire.
Meet at 11.30 am at County Hall, Preston to walk to the Flag Market.
